When people ask me to recommend shares for them to invest, I don't. I always recommend ETFs.

The reason I don't recommend shares is because you need to do thorough research before you buy them. You should particularly understand accounting principles so that you can read and interpret income statements, the balance sheets, and the cash flow statements of companies.

Understanding financial statements will help you to recognize red flags and avoid buying the wrong shares.

By the way, going through financial statements is NOT a once-off event. You must CONTINUOUSLY go through them (companies release their financial reports every 3 months, and a consolidatd report once a year).

ETFs do not require all of this research because it is done on your behalf by professionals.
