2026 BUDGET SPEECH HIGHLIGHTS (PROPERTY & ESTATES)

The 2026 Budget Speech brought a few noteworthy updates that may impact your estate planning and tax strategy around your properties:

โœ” Capital Gains Tax (CGT) primary residence allowance has increased from R2million to R3million.

โœ” Tax Free Donations
The annual exemption for donations made by individuals increased from R100 000,00 to R150 000.00 per year

โž– No change to Transfer Duty
โž– No change to VAT

For property buyers and sellers, itโ€™s business as usual on transfer duty and VAT โ€” which brings some welcome certainty in the current market.
