We're past the halfway mark of 2026. Honest question: could you answer these three right now? πŸ“Š

1. Is your profit margin better or worse than last year β€” and why?
2. Which product or service actually makes you the most money?
3. If the next three months went quiet, how long could you cover salaries?

Most owners answer with feelings. The ones who grow answer with numbers. A mid-year review is important, and it changes what you do with the next six months.

Get in touch with us and let’s look at the numbers together. www.collectacc.co.za

Collective guarantee #1: Always up to date. πŸ””

Tax deadlines. Law changes. SARS system updates. Budget speech surprises. Our promise is simple β€” you'll hear about it from us before it affects you, with a plain-language note on what (if anything) you need to do.

No frantic Googling. No finding out via a penalty letter. No "why didn't anyone tell me?"

It's one of three guarantees every Collective client gets β€” the other two being a reply in under 36 hours, and a properly good coffee when you visit.

Want an accountant who's ahead of it, not reacting to it? www.collectacc.co.za

Quick question: does your accountant know what you're building, or just what you filed last year? 🀝

At Collective Accounting, every client gets a dedicated team. People who know that you're saving for the second branch, that January is your quiet month, that your mom does the invoicing.

Why it matters: advice without context is just information. Advice WITH context is an unfair advantage. That's what small-by-design buys you, and why we protect it.

Come meet your person. Winston Park, warm welcome, great coffee. β˜• www.collectacc.co.za

A moment of silence for every receipt currently fading in a shoebox, a cubbyhole, or a WhatsApp folder called "Tax stuff". πŸ“¦

Here's the thing: every faded receipt is a deduction you might lose, a VAT claim you can't prove, and an hour someone bills you to reconstruct.

Cloud-first fixes it at the source:
β€’ Snap the slip, and it's captured β€” filed, matched, backed up
β€’ Bank feeds pull transactions in automatically
β€’ Your accountant sees what you see, live

No more year-end archaeology. Just clean books, all year.
Still on the shoebox system? No judgement β€” but let's talk. www.collectacc.co.za

Freelancers, side-hustlers, business owners β€” this one's yours. πŸ“…

Your first provisional tax payment for 2027 is due on 31 August. The whole game is the estimate:
β€’ Too low β†’ SARS can add penalties and interest later
β€’ Too high β†’ you've handed SARS your working capital for months
β€’ Just right β†’ February becomes a non-event

"Just right" isn't guesswork β€” it's your actual year-to-date numbers plus a sensible view of the months ahead. If your books are current, we can land it in one short call.

Reach out to us before the 25th and we'll make sure your estimate and payment are in on time. www.collectacc.co.za

Winter trading slow? Good. That's maintenance season. πŸ”§

The smartest SMEs use the quiet stretch to:
β€’ Clean up the books β€” so spring decisions run on real data
β€’ Automate the admin β€” invoicing, payroll, debtor reminders
β€’ Plan the busy season β€” stock, staffing and cash flow mapped before the rush

Busy months reward the businesses that fixed their engine in the quiet ones. You can't tune the car while it's racing.

If your business needs support strengthening any of these areas, Collective Accounting can help you put the right systems, processes and financial planning in place. Let's grow together. www.collectacc.co.za

If you can tick all four, enjoy the weekend, you're our kind of person.
If you can't, this is your sign. One conversation with us, and September starts with everything handled and a clear view of the road to year-end.

Filing season for individuals is in full swing β€” and the deadline (23 October for non-provisional taxpayers) always feels far away until it isn't. ⏳

Here's the August advantage: right now, everyone's relaxed. Documents are easy to find, accountants have capacity, and there's time to claim every deduction properly instead of rushing.

By October, it's a scramble.
Send us your IRP5, medical certificate and RA contributions this month, and your return gets filed calmly, correctly and early.

October-you will be insufferably smug about it.

That SMS from SARS saying you've been auto-assessed feels like a gift. Sometimes it is. Sometimes it's leaving your money on the table. πŸ“±

Auto-assessments are built from the data SARS already has β€” your IRP5, medical aid, retirement annuity. What they can't see:

β€’ Home office expenses
β€’ Extra medical costs not on the certificate
β€’ Side income (which you MUST declare)
β€’ Travel deductions and logbooks
β€’ Donations with valid S18A certificates

Accept without checking, and you could overpay or under-declare, which is a bigger problem.

Get in touch with us to take a look at your assessment before you accept it. www.collectacc.co.za

Provisional tax, minus the jargon:

WHO: You, if you earn income without PAYE β€” business profits, freelancing, rental income or significant investment income.
WHAT: Your first IRP6 return and payment for the 2027 tax year, due 31 August.
WHY: Instead of one terrifying tax bill next year, you pay in two planned instalments. Estimate well, and February holds zero surprises.
THE CATCH: Underestimate badly and SARS can add penalties. Overestimate and you've lent SARS your cash flow for free.

The sweet spot is an estimate built on your real numbers β€” which is easy when your books are live in the cloud.

Not sure your estimate is right? Get in touch with us. There's still time. www.collectacc.co.za
