ATO Small Business Super Clearing House closing from 30 June 2026

The ATO Small Business Super Clearing House can no longer be used after 30 June 2026 to pay employee super.

If you do not have an alternative in place, you need to take immediate action.
Using a super clearing house in the software you process your payroll is preferable, as it can streamline the process, minimise delays and reduce opportunities for human error.

Xero customers: June 2026 super cut-off deadline
Xero has released its June 2026 superannuation cut-off deadline.
To allow enough time for payments to reach employee super funds by 30 June, Xero customers must submit and pay super by:
2pm AEST, Wednesday 24 June 2026
If after consulting with your Accountant, you are planning to bring forward payment of your June quarter super to secure a tax deduction in the year ending 30/6/26 please be aware that it must reach the employee’s super fund by 30th June.
As we are required to use clearing houses to pay super this means bringing forward this payment to ensure the clearing house has sufficient time to make this happen.
This also applies if you want to maximise how much is contributed for you individually for that financial year. There are limits to what can be contributed for an individual annually. Exceeding your maximum allowable contribution can lead to increased tax being incurred. It is therefore highly recommended that you speak to your Accountant/Financial Adviser to seek advice on how much additional super you are able to contribute to avoid any additional tax.
If you are using an alternative clearing house we suggest you check their processing cut-off date now to avoid disappointment.

From 1 July 2026, businesses will need to start paying super that accrues in each pay run on the same day wages are paid.

But there is an important cash flow overlap to consider.
If June quarter super, or a portion of it, has not been paid early, it will still need to be paid by around mid-July to meet the 28 July cut-off date, while Payday Super obligations also begin from 1 July 2026.

EOFY is one of the busiest periods of the year for payroll processing, clearing houses, and super funds.

One of the most common EOFY issues businesses face is leaving superannuation payments too late.

If after consulting with your Accountant, you are planning to bring forward payment of your June quarter super to secure a tax deduction in the year ending 30/6/26 please be aware that it must reach the employee’s super fund by 30th June.

Did you know the word bookkeeping holds a unique place in the English language?

It believed to be the only unhyphenated English word with three consecutive sets of double letters.

The word itself has an interesting history.

Bookkeeping comes from the combination of two much older words: “book”, referring to financial records or ledgers, and “keeping”, meaning to maintain or preserve something carefully. The term began appearing in English in the 16th century, when merchants and traders increasingly relied on written ledgers to record transactions as commerce expanded across Europe. As trade became more structured, so did the way financial records were maintained. Bookkeeping evolved alongside systems such as double-entry accounting, where every transaction is recorded in two places to keep the books balanced. Over time, the combined term “bookkeeping” became the standard way to describe the practice of recording and maintaining financial records.

So next time you write bookkeeping, take a second look. Hidden inside that everyday word is a small piece of language history and one of the quirkiest spelling facts in English.
