Oregon State University is looking for volunteers to support its 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝘅 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗩𝗜𝗧𝗔) 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺, providing free tax preparation services to individuals and families in the community who need assistance.

Experienced accounting and tax professionals can lend their expertise while 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀-𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.

According to a new Robert Half report highlighted by CFO Brew, 𝟳𝟰% 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗳 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 — one of the highest rates across the industries surveyed.

But employers are also facing a challenge: finding qualified talent. Across industries, 58% of hiring managers said finding skilled professionals is more difficult than it was a year ago.

For accounting professionals and those considering the profession, the numbers point to continued opportunity — and the importance of building the skills organizations need to move forward.

For OSCPA member 𝘋𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘺𝘭 𝘌𝘥𝘥𝘺, 𝘊𝘗𝘈, a career in accounting has always been about helping people reach their goals. From guiding clients through tax and financial planning to now serving communities impacted by disasters with the American Red Cross, his CPA journey has taken him far beyond the office.

After volunteering in Guam and Saipan following a devastating typhoon, Darryl continues to use the skills, compassion, and problem-solving mindset he developed as a CPA to make a difference where it's needed most.

His advice for the next generation of CPAs?

The IRS is warning taxpayers about a new scam involving fraudulent letters directing recipients to enroll in a "𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗹" before a supposed deadline.

❌ 𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝘁. This portal is 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲.

The IRS also reminds taxpayers:
