Boots Been There 🥾

It was my birthday weekend!

I was traveling to cheer on an amazing friend as she stepped on stage for her very first physique and figure competition in Kentucky. She absolutely crushed it, bringing home five medals: two 1st place finishes, two 2nd place finishes, and a 3rd place finish. What an incredible accomplishment after 17 weeks of hard work.

On the way home, another amazing friend agreed to make a birthday hiking stop with me, and I’m so glad she did.

We headed to Cove Spring Park and took the Holly Trail, a peaceful 1.6-mile hike winding through the woods and ending at a beautiful waterfall.

This hike ended a little differently than most. Instead of a post-hike snack, we celebrated with a birthday champagne toast beneath the waterfall, taking a moment to soak in the view and appreciate another trip around the sun.

Cheers to the year ahead. There are so many exciting things on the horizon, and plenty of trails, overlooks, and unforgettable views still waiting to be discovered. 🥂🥾💙

Boots Been There 🥾

This weekend we snuck out between the rain clouds and hit the Kevin R. Brown Trail overlooking Summersville Lake.

We covered about 2.5 miles in an hour and a half which is definitely a slower pace than Bruce and I are used to on a fairly flat, easy trail. But this hike came with a second pair of little boots beside us, so I soaked in every second of a 6-year-old’s imagination, endless conversation, and excitement for every little thing along the way.

It turned into one of those simple, perfect afternoons that ended with a very important pit stop down at the lake… just to make sure his boots were actually waterproof. 🥾💦 (P.S. They aren’t if you jump into the water that’s higher than your boot!!)

Our office will be closed this Memorial Day as we take time to reflect and honor the courageous individuals who served our country.

Another Mazelon grad in the books! 🎓

This weekend, Tony celebrated a proud family milestone as his son, Christopher, graduated with honors from the West Virginia University Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.

Christopher will soon begin his career with The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company as a project manager.

Congratulations, Christopher, and best of luck as you start this exciting new chapter!

Boots Been There 🥾

This weekend we kept it local and explored the Salmon Run Trail in Summersville, West Virginia, leading right up to the lake. The perfect ending to an 85° day on the trail, especially for Bruce, who was ready for a cool down and a drink.

A quick and scenic 2-mile hike with great company, sunshine, and beautiful lake views to wrap it all together.
