Thank you everyone for your support these past few days, we truly couldn’t do without everyone!
SB431 was heard. Senator Foil made another amendment this morning that simplified it more in our favor.
His amendment says that we would be required to be available, not staffed, for 4 hours Saturday and 4 hours Sunday, not for free. We would still be allowed to collect a gate fee. If we choose to not be available, we aren’t allowed to charge storage for that day.

We addressed some concerns and the senate committee openly heard them. The Chairman voted to push the bill to the floor.
Senator Foil, who by the way is a very nice and understanding person, said that he would agree to let it go to the floor but wanted to work with our issues and concerns so that it best fit everyone.

UPDATE:

Senator Foil has made an amendment to his bill which isn't any better.

"F. The towing or storage company shall have a person available to provide for the release of vehicles or personal property for a minimum of four hours on Saturdays and Sundays or it may not charge storage fees on those days."

If you haven't already, and even if you have, please flood the transportation committee with your opisiotion to this bill!!!

We need people to come to the capitol so show your support for the towing indusrty and show your opisition to this bill!!!!

DOTD is encouraging first responders and partner agencies across the state to participate in Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Responder Training on April 9, in Baton Rouge.

DOTD continues to support TIM training as a critical component of improving roadway safety in Louisiana. SB431 was slipped in at the last minute and we need your help!
SB431 says that they will require tow companies to be staffed a minimum of 6 hours Saturday and Sunday and not be allowed to charge a gate fee!
We need everyone to reach out to the members of the committee and let them know you oppose this bill and the burden it will put on towing companies!!!

District 5 deserves a Public Service Commissioner who answers to the people, not to outside corporations or political insiders.

National day of TIM Training is April 9th. It’s being hosted at LSU from 8 to 12. it is a free training and does come with a 4 hour certification! Hope to see a lot of you there!!!
