You crossed the finish line. You expected to feel something. Instead, you felt flat, restless and confused. The internet has an answer for that. It's wrong — and it's costing us our best people.

As we near the end of summer and start of fall, we also have to thank our interns - Ryan Griffith, Ben Wolf, and Colton Bestwick for their hard work helping behind the scenes this summer.

While we don’t make it public while we work - I want to recognize the amazing project management and systems skills both Ryan and Ben demonstrated this summer. My most analytical clients know my internal processes and thoughts that guide our actions, but taking them from my mind to processes and workflows every day is something we worked on this summer. It has advanced the efficiency of our practice by years. On top of this these two also knew a problem that has plagued business owner clients we work with - related to coordinating across tax and business planning and business valuation. Not only did they take my vision and put clear measurable action around it, but they constantly tested and improved how we onboard accountants and their clients on the system. It is unique to EightPoint and I am proud to say after market research the only firm able to do valuations like we do in the Tri State region. That is something we worked on together and as an owner I cannot say how proud I am to share how each person at EightPoint takes ownership for their role and responsibilities. That is the culture I was raised in, and something that sets us apart from any other firm. Thank you again to the clients who entrust us with their financial plans, investments and decisions. Thank you to the great people that find our culture for ownership and relationship matters above all else.

Each week for clients we share a weekly newsletter and update - often times with pieces that are more educational or financial planning focused - this week our top read by far was the article below.

Older generations have already begun transferring trillions of dollars in wealth to their families and to charity in a process that many wealthy families aren’t as prepared for as they should be.

America 250: Remembering Robert Morris, "Financier of the Revolution"

As we celebrate America's 250th, it's worth pausing to remember Robert Morris — the man who personally financed critical moments of the Revolutionary War, helped fund Washington's army on the march to Yorktown, and signed the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the Constitution. Without his financial ingenuity, the Revolution may well have looked very different. His legacy as one of the architects of American independence is well earned.

His later years offer a gentler lesson, too. After the war, Morris invested heavily in land across the young nation, believing — correctly, as it turned out — that America would grow and expand westward. But he leveraged that vision with significant debt, and when credit tightened during the French Revolutionary Wars in the 1790s, he didn't have the cash flow to support the land and loans he was carrying. It's a reminder that leverage can be a powerful tool, but it becomes a real risk when the assets it's tied to can't generate the cash flow to support it.

As we celebrate 250 years of American independence, it's a fitting moment to reflect on our own approach to leverage and cash flow — timeless principles that mattered as much in 1776 as they do today.

Grateful for Community & Service

A heartfelt thank you to Ohio Retired Troopers District 4, Armor Risk Management, and all the family and friends who came together to honor a fallen Ohio State Patrolman and establish a scholarship in his name funded with $17,000 from the recent charity golf outing. It was meaningful to see our community rally around those who've made the ultimate sacrifice in service.

EightPoint Financial was proud to support this event. Our law enforcement deserve recognition not just for their bravery, but for the lasting impact they leave on their families and communities.

This cause is especially personal to me—both of my grandfathers served as Pittsburgh police officers. Their legacy reminds me every day of the debt we owe to those who put on the badge.

To our police officers—thank you for your service and sacrifice. 🙏

Looking forward to a great day!

At EightPoint Financial, we're now excited to offer business valuation services in conjunction with accountants designed to help business owners better understand one of their most valuable assets: their business.

For many owners, their business represents their largest financial asset, retirement plan, and source of future financial security.

In fact, industry research suggests that business owners hold up to 90% of their wealth in their businesses, and 78% plan to fund their retirement through the eventual sale of their business.

Despite this, many business owners have never completed a formal valuation, leaving them less prepared for retirement, succession planning, insurance needs, unexpected events, or a future sale.

While traditional valuations can run to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars or more, our process combines valuation insights with financial planning guidance to help business owners better prepare for the future at a significantly lower cost for owners and the accounting practices seeking to help serve owners.

Our process provides:
● Business valuation insights at a fraction of the cost of traditional valuation services
● An accurate valuation through a streamlined and efficient process
● Guidance for business needs such as planning for retirement or succession. ● Benchmarking against similar businesses and industry peers
● Approximately a two-week turnaround from start to finish
● A yearly update with updated information for 3 years

To get started, we offer an Interest Form that gathers basic information about you and your business.

This quick assessment can help identify potential reasons for obtaining a valuation and help us get in contact with you.
