Team Hammernik for Sophia Strong invites you to join us again this year in bringing light to the darkness of cancer at this year’s Blood Cancer United Light The Night Fundraising Event on September 17, 2026. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated!
Your support empowers Blood Cancer United to make life-changing differences for patients and families - including our very own Sophia (Dale & Denise Hammernik's granddaughter). Sophia has been named this years Honored Hero for all of Wisconsin and will be at both Light The Night events in Madison and Milwaukee! After a journey filled with countless treatments, procedures, and hospital stays, Sophia is now just 100 days away from completing treatment and ringing the bell to celebrate being cancer-free!
We are incredibly grateful for how far this brave young girl has come. Thanks to programs funded through Light The Night, Sophia, her family, and others like them receive vital support as they navigate their cancer journeys and move out of the darkness toward the light of a cure.
Funds raised directly support groundbreaking research and treatments for all types of blood cancer. Your support of Light The Night, allows Blood Cancer United, formerly the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, to fund treatments for patients who are suffering from all forms of blood cancers. We proudly support the science that makes FDA drug approvals possible, including 80% of the 153 new approvals since 2017.
