"72% of homebuyers have paused their search waiting for lower mortgage rates- and 41% already regret it."

Many of my consultations with homebuyers revolve around the possibility of rates dropping. This article highlights some of the major points I share with me clients when they are feeling uncertain about the market. It explains why waiting may not be the best decision for your family or your finances.

-Most experts see rates above 6.5% through 2027.

-If you want to buy in the next couple years, chances are you won't avoid a higher rate, but you will lose equity building years waiting.

-If rates do hit levels between 6.3-6.5% after maintaining recent highs, 34% of the those holding out will look get into the home market, this can drive buyer competition and potentially increase purchase prices. Any savings from a lower rate can be lost.

-Buying down your interest rate now and having a plan to refinance can be a superior decision VS "waiting and hoping rates change", especially when experts do not see meaningful change on the horizon.

Most homebuyers have stopped their search while they wait for lower mortgage rates, but many already regret it.
