PLEASE be careful who you’re taking financial advice from on TikTok.

Just because someone paid off debt doesn’t mean they’re qualified to teach you about investing, Roth IRAs, or retirement planning.

Before you spend your money on someone’s financial course or apply their advice to your own life, ask yourself: what qualifies this person to teach me this?

The Investment Advisers Act of 1940 is one piece of the bigger conversation about who provides investment advice and under what rules.

Don’t confuse a relatable money story with financial expertise. Do your research before trusting someone with your financial future.

Let me tell you what happened to me at a networking event …

A gentleman asked what I do, and after I explained it - he hit me with…

“So you do what an app can do?”

EXCUSE ME??? 💀

So naturally - I started asking questions.

Can you cry to an app about your budget?
Can it explain financial jargon in plain English?
Can it help you understand what’s actually happening with YOUR money?

And then - the funniest part happened.

I asked him which app he was referring to…

“I don’t know the name, but I heard about it on the radio.”

SIR. 😭😭😭

Listen - I’m not anti-app. But there is a difference between having a financial tool and having someone who can actually help you understand your finances, connect the dots, and figure out what makes sense for YOUR life.

Last night was SUPPOSED to be girls night …

Then as we are sitting down gossiping - she casually mentioned a financial question and within five minutes I had her pulling out her laptop so we could review all of her accounts. 🤭

Because if you know me - you know that’s exactly what happens when someone asks me anything financially related. I’m immediately like - “Okay - get everything pulled up and let’s look at it together.”

And then we’re down the rabbit hole.

We went through her accounts, looked at and discussed her expenses, discussed retirement accounts, reviewed her W-4 withholding, talked about interest rates, and made sure everything was actually set up the way it should be.

And while I love sitting at my desk making Taylor-Made Budgets and Financial Clarity Reports - this is one of my favorite parts of what I do.

Because there are SO many women who are perfectly capable of managing their money. They just don’t have the time to sit down and actually look at all of it.

Especially when you’re a mom.

You have work, kids, dinner, school stuff, appointments, activities, and approximately 4,000 other things happening at the same time.

And then you’re supposed to remember to check your withholding status, compare savings rates, review your spending, keep up with debt, and make sure your accounts are set up correctly…

Girl. You can outsource this all to me. 😭

You don’t have to spend your kid’s nap time going through bank statements.

You don’t have to spend your Sunday night trying to figure out if your money is actually working for you.

You can have someone sit down with you, go through the actual numbers, answer the questions you’ve been putting off, AND help you get everything organized.

Then you can go back to being a mom, going to soccer practice, taking the family to dinner, or making memories with your kids.

Because I don’t want you spending your life managing your money.

I want your money organized enough that you can go live your life.🤍

I was Patient Zero.

I saw firsthand how even smart, successful people can find themselves financially unprepared for something they never saw coming, and how those moments can change everything.

That experience is a big part of why I built Budget Bee.
But I didn’t build this business simply because I experienced something difficult.

I built it because I had the education, knowledge, and financial background to know there was a better way to help people prepare for life’s unexpected moments.

When I was going through it - I had to navigate it alone.

Now - I get to be the person I wish I had.

If you’ve been telling yourself you’ll get your financial life organized “eventually,” let this be your sign. You don’t have to wait for a crisis.

And no shade to the creators who talk about how they went from X amount of debt to X amount in savings. I just don’t do that when I can use my BS in Finance, my Certificate in Financial Planning, my MBA, and my NSLS to show my credibility 🫶🏼

If a budget doesn’t allow me to travel - it’s not my budget 💅

Sitting here in the rainy KC weather really has me missing my camping trip that I took to RMNP last month. I miss the mountains, my little chipmunk friends at the campsite, the starry night sky, and waking up knowing I had absolutely nowhere to be.

And the best part? I didn’t have to stress about what this trip was doing to my bank account because I had already planned for it.

Once I knew about the trip opportunity - I sat down and had to restructure my budget. I found a few areas that I could make minor adjustments to and I set aside those funds in one of my HYSAs for three months specifically for this trip. So when it was time to pack up and head to Colorado - the money was already there.

This is why I will forever say:
“Wealth is just boring financial planning that paid off.”

Because yes - financial planning and budgeting can be boring and tedious. It can require you to think about your money when you’d rather be doing literally anything else.

But then sometimes your “boring” financial planning looks like this. 🏔️

Four days of camping, hiking, exploring and enjoying one of the prettiest places I’ve ever bee. All without wondering if I could actually afford to be there.

That’s what I want a budget to do and that’s what my Taylor-Made budget did! 🫶🏼

I honestly love my job as a Household CFO, because I get to be the one who sits at the dining room table worrying about the bills, while my clients get to go enjoy their lives. All while also teaching them about finances every meeting. 💛
