THEY TRIED IT!!!

We won a trip to the ER via ambulance to start the long holiday weekend… 🚑

And once the registration clerk got my HEALTH INSURANCE INFO… 💰

10 minutes later, She comes back and says “Today’s visit is $1,483 with $250 of that being your copay. How would you like to take care of that today?”

Since I’m writhing in pain and can barely even coherently respond, My Protection quickly says “Send the bill in the mail!” 💌😅

The registration clerk says, “OK, I’ll just leave your INVOICE right on the table here. Have a good day and hope you feel better.”❤️‍🩹

This is happening to more people than necessary. And now that I’m not in extreme pain today, I can see the “INVOICE” clearly says “ESTIMATED PATIENT FINANCIAL OBLIGATION SUMMARY”… which are 2 different things.

So today’s post is to help those who maybe don’t know: YOU ARE NEVER REQUIRED TO PAY FOR EMERGENCY ROOM CARE ON THE SPOT! And they are OBLIGATED to treat you- with or without Health insurance!

So many people get taken advantage of by our U.S. Healthcare system everyday…

And that’s why I assist individuals with obtaining and ancillary benefits too!

Picture this…

You’ve set your alarm the night before and are preparing for a quiet day off … decided to make that appointment to get the oil change done. ☑️

But as soon as your alarm goes off, the phone rings. You let the call go to voicemail while you make your cup of coffee. ☕️

When you come back to listen to the message, your heart stops…

Your youngest adult child just left a message that they’re in an ambulance on the way to the ER and have no idea what’s wrong.❤️‍🩹

Thankfully you’re in the same city, but they live and are being transported to a hospital over an hour away. 🚑

You get there and the doctors tell you your child needs emergency surgery…NOW!

Then it hits you like a ton of bricks… can the surgery save them? And if not what happens next? They just started a new job, are over 26 & got kicked off your health plan AND …👀🤦🏽‍♀️

This is not a made up story, but something a real client experienced last month.

Our children never think it can happen to them, so they go on and “YOLO” until that life or death situation hits them like a ton of bricks . 🧱

And as parents we have to sometimes set our “kids” up for the unthinkable…

Today is about being more diligent financially.💪🏽

I recently learned about some fraud a client experienced dealing with an “investment advisor.” ❤️‍🩹

The “advisor” showed them some awesome ways to turn a quick profit…💹

Well the money the client “invested” went STRAIGHT into the advisor’s bank account! 💸

Not at ALL where they were told it would. 🤯

When dealing with agents and brokers, if it’s not someone you’ve known personally for years or that someone’s referred you to, here’s what you can do to confirm they are who they say they are:💌

1- ask for their securities or insurance license number FOR THE STATE YOU RESIDE IN or their NATIONAL ID NUMBER. Anyone whose licensed won’t mind providing either one or the other to help you confirm their legal status to do business.

2- Call your state’s insurance and financial department to VERIFY what this new person trying to get you to invest told you about themselves. Each “advisor” or “broker” must be registered and active as of your application day.

3- Even if you’re on a video meeting, ask to see THEIR ID… because they will more than likely need yours to complete ANY applications they submit for you.

We ALL want to see our money grow. But if it sounds TOO GOOD to be true, it just might not be.

And that’s why I encourage people to DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE!!

Think about this…

What if that important person in your life passed away with only a life insurance policy through their job…
