Tyson has officially completed all requirements to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional. After passing the CFP® exam last November, he recently completed the required experience hours - the final step in earning the CFP® certification.

Over the coming weeks, we'll be highlighting some of the most common scams targeting individuals today - from online romance scams and phishing emails to tech support fraud and investment scams. Our goal is to help you recognize the warning signs and provide practical tips to keep you and your loved ones safe.

❤️ Scam Spotlight #1: Romance Scams
Romance scams are designed to exploit trust and emotion. Scammers create fake dating or social media profiles, build an emotional connection over time, and eventually ask for money - often claiming a medical emergency, travel issue, military deployment, or another urgent financial need.

🚩 Warning Signs
• They quickly profess love or talk about a future together.
• They avoid meeting in person or video chatting.
• They ask to move conversations off the dating platform.
• They eventually request money or financial assistance.

🛡️ Protect Yourself
• Take new relationships slowly and verify who you're talking to.
• Be cautious if someone refuses to meet or video chat.
• Never send money to someone you've only met online.
• If something doesn't feel right, talk with a trusted family member or financial professional before acting.

Remember, scammers often rely on urgency and emotion. Taking a moment to pause, verify, and ask questions can prevent a costly mistake.

Community involvement is one of the core values at Emberwood, which is why we were proud to participate in the United Way of Adams County's 2026 Day of Caring. This annual event brought together more than 250 volunteers from 18 local businesses and organizations to complete 20 service projects throughout Adams County, demonstrating the power of collaboration and community service.

Our team spent the day assisting the Quincy Kroc Center by cleaning and detailing transportation vans that are used to serve local youth and families. While the task may seem simple, helping community organizations maintain the resources they rely on every day can have a lasting impact.

We are grateful to the United Way of Adams County for creating opportunities that connect local businesses with meaningful service projects, and we appreciate the dedication of all the volunteers who worked together to strengthen our community. A special thank you to our team members who represented Emberwood so well and helped demonstrate what it means to Live United.

🎓 Please join us in congratulating our two newest team members, Egan Franzen and Calvin Lavery, on their recent college graduations!

Egan recently graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Financial Planning, while Calvin graduated from North Central College with a degree in Finance.

We are excited to officially welcome both of them in June as they begin their professional careers here at Emberwood.

Last week, we hit pause on the day-to-day and took our team out to Platt Daddy BBQ in Quincy for an unofficial Office Appreciation Day lunch.

It’s easy to get caught up in the pace of serving clients, but moments like this matter. Our team is the engine behind everything we do - showing up every day with care, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to the people we serve.

We believe that taking care of our team is just part of taking care of our clients. When they’re supported, appreciated, and energized, that translates directly into the experience we deliver.
