Happiest Birthday to Julia Byerman Smith!!

Julie Smith has been with Bennett, Groeber, Mullen & Feltner for two decades. She specializes in payroll reporting and tax return preparation, with extensive experience preparing and reviewing income tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts. Julie is also one of the firm's QuickBooks experts, assisting clients with their bookkeeping needs and helping them get the most from their accounting software. In addition, she manages federal, state, school district, and local payroll tax filings, along with monthly sales tax returns for many of the firm's clients. Julie is known for her attention to detail and her commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

A lifelong Springfield resident, Julie earned her Associate's Degree in Accounting Technology from Clark State Community College and is a 1997 graduate of Shawnee High School. She and her husband, Zach, enjoy spending time with their family, including Julie's stepdaughter, Autumn, and their grandson Rhett. At home, they're kept busy by their beloved pets. Julie is an avid Cleveland Browns fan ("Go Browns!") & Notre Dame fan (“Go Irish!”), a life member of VFW Post 1031, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 397, and enjoys spending time with family and friends.

It’s hard to believe another school year is here! We’re excited to share a few of the BGMF family’s children and grandchildren as they head back to school this week. Wishing all of our students a wonderful year filled with learning, new adventures, and plenty of memories!

And as you’re thinking about future education costs, don’t forget about Ohio’s 529 Plan. Contributions can offer Ohio taxpayers a state income tax deduction, while earnings grow tax-free when used for qualified education expenses.

Happy Birthday (tomorrow), Bill! Stop by sometime and ask him to tell you a joke. I know he looks pretty serious in this picture, but trust me—he’s got some good ones! Hope you have a great birthday, Bill!

Bill Groeber is a 1967 graduate of The Ohio State University. After teaching mathematics at Northeastern High School for two years, he began his accounting career in 1969 with a local firm that eventually became Bennett, Groeber, Mullen & Feltner Co., CPAs.

With more than six decades of experience, Bill has built lasting relationships with his clients, many of whom he considers friends. He is known for affectionately referring to his clients as "his sheep" and himself as "the shepherd." Bill enjoys solving complex accounting challenges and helping clients maintain accurate financial records so they can make informed business decisions with confidence.

Bill is the proud father of four children and is a grandfather. He treasures the years he shared with his beloved wife, Carol, and today enjoys spending time with his family. He remains active in the Springfield community through St. Bernard Church and has dedicated many years to community service. In his free time, Bill enjoys watching Ohio State football and spending time with family.

Bill is a member of the AICPA and the Ohio Society of CPAs.

We’re about a month away from the final pass-through tax deadline!

September 15 will be here before we know it. If you’re a partner in a partnership or a shareholder in an S corporation, now is a great time to make sure you’ve provided your tax preparer with any outstanding information and are ready for the final push.

Today, we share with heavy hearts the obituary of Matt and Susan Mullen's beloved son.

There are no words that can fully express the depth of this loss. During this incredibly difficult time, our hearts, prayers, and unwavering support are with Matt, his family, and everyone who loved him.
