💼 Happy Write-Off Wednesday | Don’t Believe Everything You See on TaxTok! 📱🧾

🚨 Just because someone on TikTok says something is a “tax write-off” doesn’t mean it actually is!

Social media is full of tax tips, hacks, and “loopholes” that may leave out some VERY important details.

Before you try that viral tax tip, ask:
🔎 Does it actually apply to my situation?
🧾 Is there a legitimate tax rule behind it?
💰 Do I have the documentation to support it?
📚 Is the information current for the tax year I’m filing?

A creator might have a million views… but that doesn’t make them a tax professional. 😉

TikTok can be great for ideas. Your tax return deserves facts. 💡

When it comes to your taxes, don’t risk your money because something went viral!

🎃👻 FACT CHECK FRIDAY: Is Your Halloween Donation Tax Deductible? 👻🎃

🍬 TRICK: “If I donate money to help someone, I can deduct it on my taxes.”

🍭 TREAT: Not necessarily!

For a charitable contribution to potentially qualify for a federal tax deduction, the donation generally needs to go to a qualified organization — not directly to an individual.

🎃 BUT HERE’S THE 2026 TAX TWIST:
Beginning with the 2026 tax year, taxpayers who do not itemize may be able to deduct up to $1,000 in qualifying cash charitable contributions — or $2,000 for married couples filing jointly.

👻 So before you drop your donation into the Halloween bucket, make sure you know who you’re donating to and keep your records!

🧾 Save those receipts, bank records, or other documentation. A little recordkeeping now can prevent a scary surprise later.

💼 Happy Write-Off Wednesday | Don’t Get Scammed! 🚨

Scammers love to impersonate the IRS — especially when they know you’re thinking about taxes. 🧾

🚩 Red flags to watch for:
• The IRS unexpectedly demands immediate payment
• Someone threatens arrest, deportation, or legal action if you don’t pay
• You’re pressured to pay with gift cards, cryptocurrency, or a wire transfer
• You receive a suspicious text, email, or social media message asking for personal or financial information
• Someone promises a huge refund in exchange for your Social Security number or bank information

💡 Remember: The IRS generally starts contact with taxpayers by mail. If something feels suspicious, don’t click the link or give out your information.

Protect your identity. Protect your money. And when in doubt, verify before you pay! 🔐💰

💰🍂 Money-Saving Monday: Don’t Count on the 2026 Home Energy Credit

Planning to replace your furnace, windows, water heater, or other energy-efficient equipment?

Here’s an important tax update: The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit ended for qualifying property placed in service after December 31, 2025.

The Residential Clean Energy Credit also ended for qualifying expenditures after December 31, 2025.

📌 If you completed qualifying work in 2025, keep the documentation needed to claim the applicable 2025 credit on your 2025 tax return.

If you’re planning a home improvement project in 2026, don’t assume the federal credit is still available.

🍂 Before starting a project, check the current tax rules and talk with your tax professional.

✍️👻 Write-Off Wednesday: Don’t Let Your Receipts Disappear Like Ghosts!

🚗 Vehicle expenses
💻 Equipment
🍽️ Business meals
✈️ Travel
📣 Advertising
🧾 Professional services

📌 Tax Tip: Save receipts, invoices, mileage records, and other supporting documents throughout the year.

Don’t wait until tax season to go searching for financial ghosts!

👻 Keep your records where you can find them.

💰🍂 Money-Saving Monday: Is Your Spending Changing With the Seasons?

A new season can mean new expenses.

Think about what fall brings:

🍁 Warmer clothes
🏠 Home maintenance
🔥 Heating costs
🎃 Fall activities
🍽️ Seasonal dining
🎁 Upcoming holiday expenses

Before these costs sneak up on you, take a look at your budget.

📌 Money-Saving Tip: Add seasonal expenses to your budget before you spend—not after.

Planning for predictable expenses can help prevent financial surprises.

🍂 New season. Fresh budget. Fresh start.

🔍🍁 Fact Check Friday: Can Small Purchases Really Add Up?

MYTH: “It’s only a few dollars, so it doesn’t matter.”

FACT: Small, frequent purchases can add up over time.

☕ Coffee runs
🍔 Takeout
📱 Subscriptions
🛍️ Online shopping
🚗 Convenience spending

📌 Fall Challenge: Look through your last 30 days of transactions.

What spending surprised you?

You don’t have to stop spending on things you enjoy. The goal is to make sure your spending matches your priorities.

🍂 Sometimes a financial reset starts with simply seeing where your money is going.

✍️👻 Write-Off Wednesday: Is It a Write-Off or a Tax Trick?

Halloween is coming, but not everything that sounds like a tax deduction is actually deductible. 🎃

👻 TRICK: “I bought it for my business, so it must be a write-off!”

Not necessarily. Business expenses must meet applicable tax requirements and be connected to your business.

Expenses that may require careful consideration include:

💻 Technology
🚗 Vehicle expenses
🍽️ Business meals
🏠 Home office expenses
📱 Cell phone expenses
✈️ Business travel

📌 Tax Tip: Keep receipts and records showing what you purchased, when you purchased it, how much you paid, and the business purpose.

Don’t let a tax “trick” become a scary surprise later!

💰🍂 Money-Saving Monday: Time for a Fall Financial Reset

Fall is here, which makes October a perfect time for some financial “fall cleaning.” 🧹🍂

Take a fresh look at:

💵 Spending
📱 Subscriptions
💰 Savings
💳 Debt
🏦 Emergency savings
📊 Your budget
🎁 Holiday expenses

Then look ahead: What financial goals do you want to bring into 2027?

📌 Money-Saving Tip: Pick ONE area to review this week. You don’t have to overhaul your finances overnight.

Small changes now can help you start the new year with a clearer financial picture.

🍂 Fall into better financial habits.
