Management fees, rent, loans, services, inventory and other transactions between related entities may be subject to transfer pricing rules.

The basic standard is straightforward: Would two unrelated businesses reasonably agree to the same terms?

That’s why documentation matters. Your CPA can help you review whether your intercompany pricing is reasonable, defensible and applied consistently.

Learn what business owners should know about transfer pricing, documentation and the arm’s length standard.

Growing businesses are using their CPA for more than tax prep.

They’re using better financial information to understand performance, think through big decisions, and plan ahead with more confidence.

That can mean cleaner books, more useful reporting, proactive tax planning, and a CPA partner that supports the business throughout the year.

At Hendricks Advisors & CPAs, we believe your CPA should help you look forward, too.

How much of your budget exists simply because it was there last year?

Most businesses build next year's budget by taking last year's numbers and adding a little more.

At first glance, it seems like a logical approach.

But over time, that habit can quietly increase spending on software, subscriptions, vendors, and other recurring expenses that no longer provide the same value.

Instead, ask one simple question before approving any expense: "If I were starting my business today, would I spend money on this?"

That single mindset shift is the foundation of zero-based budgeting—and it can help you uncover opportunities to improve cash flow without increasing revenue.

Swipe through for a quick framework you can use during your next budget review.

If you'd like a deeper look at how zero-based budgeting works (and how to implement it in your business), we've broken it down in our latest article.

Most business problems don't appear overnight.

They start with one small issue that's easy to ignore.

Maybe the books haven't been reconciled in a few months.

Maybe cash flow is tighter than expected.

Maybe pricing decisions are being made without current financials.

On their own, those don't seem like major problems.

But over time, one overlooked detail can trigger a chain reaction that affects hiring, profitability, tax planning, and growth.

That's why we believe bookkeeping isn't just about keeping records organized.

It's about giving business owners accurate, up-to-date financials so they can make confident decisions before small issues become expensive ones.

What's one financial task that's easy to put off—but always seems to come back later?

Businesses don't become successful by accident.

The owners behind them make decisions differently.

They think beyond the next quarter.

They use financial insight to guide strategy.

They invest in systems before they're urgently needed.

They seek advice before making major decisions.

These aren't just good business habits—they're often the difference between staying busy and building a business that grows intentionally.

We explore this idea in our latest article, The Next Founders.
